Here's a few useful links I've compiled for you, based on the internet, website design and development. Let me know if they've been useful to you.
- Google Make sure you're listed well on here. The world's no.1 search engine. Make sure you also create a sitemap for Google and other search engines to find you with.
- Twitter Becoming the most addictive website on the internet, Twitter is not just for conversation but many businesses are targeting the platform for advertising and product awareness. Twitter also is supporting adverts now too.
- Facebook Once it was a University based social networking site. Now it's a fully fledged social network and business channel. You can setup a page for your business on there, as well as develop funky applications to interact with your target audience. Advertising is also now possible.
- YouTube Great for showcasing your TV adverts or Video-casts. Make a channel and get users to subscribe, so they can get hooked on your content.
- W3C The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international community where they work to develop Web standards. Make sure you check your website for accessibility using their invaluable Markup Validation Service.
- Google Knol Google's attempt at Wikipedia. It's really growing fast and allows you to quickly setup your own content should you wish to share your knowledge. Great resource for finding out almost anything. Beware though, this is user-generated content, so it can't always be trusted.
- Bing Bing is Microsoft's very own search engine and replaced MSN search. There has been a good response from critics and users to the re-brand and it is getting a lot of attention due to the multi-channel advertising campaigns.
- Google + It's slogan is "real life sharing rethought for the web" and is simply Google's latest answer to social networking. Think of it as a mixture of Facebook and Twitter. 'Circles' allow you to create social groups tailored by you and 'Hangouts' allow you to share videos and chat in real-time via your webcam or mobile phone.
